Adopted information on the effects of limiting electricity prices: Will electricity be more expensive

A session of the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina was held today in Mostar, at which, among other things, information on the effects of the application of the decision on limiting electricity prices was accepted.
At the session of the FBiH Government, the information of the Federal Ministry of Energy, Mining and Industry on the effects of the implementation of the Decision of the FBiH Government on limiting the increase in electricity supply prices was accepted.
The Government instructed this federal ministry to analyze the effects of the implementation of this decision after six months, and possibly propose corrections and submit them to the FBiH Government for submission to the FBiH Parliament.
We remind you that the Government of FBiH in January, at an emergency telephone session, passed a decision limiting the increase in electricity prices to a maximum of 20 percent in 2022 compared to 2021, which refers to contracts lasting one year or more.
By the decision of the Government, the Federal Ministry of Energy, Mining and Industry is in charge of making an analysis of the situation, and possibly proposing corrections.
At the moment, BiH produces enough electricity that it can be exported, but the question is whether in the future our country will become dependent on electricity imports.
If in the coming period the reference analysis shows that it is necessary to increase electricity prices, the FBiH Government would have to get the approval of the federal Parliament for such a thing. Since 2022 is an election year, it is less likely that the FBiH Parliament will face growing social pressure and decide on such a thing.
