Guidelines for the rational use of electricity in FBiH

The Government of the FBiH accepted the information of the Federal Ministry of Energy, Mining and Industry on the adoption of Guidelines for reducing the consumption of energy and energy sources in the FBiH, which warns about the importance of changing behavior and rational use of energy and energy sources. These are intervention guidelines modeled after the package of European Commission documents from 7/20/2022. year, and the REPower plan of the European Union.
The guidelines consist of measures that can be taken by citizens, the public sector, entrepreneurs and energy entities, and they can be short-term or long-term measures.
The Government tasked public institutions and public companies in the FBiH to intensify activities in accordance with the Rulebook on the Information System for Energy Efficiency in the FBiH, through appointed energy associates, managers and coordinators, as well as to publish the Guidelines on official websites. The government tasked all administrative units to develop specific programs for the case of a potential crisis, in order to implement the Guidelines, inform the public and ensure the implementation of the proposed measures.
The programs should include energy needs, risks of reduction/interruption of supply for various reasons, missing quantities, measures to be taken to reduce the consequences and necessary financial resources.
The Government tasked the Federal Ministry of Energy, Mining and Industry to submit these conclusions, with the Guidelines, to all cantonal governments for information and action.
It also tasked the ministry to submit these conclusions, along with accompanying information on the adoption of the Guidelines, and the Guidelines themselves, to the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The guidelines contain energy management that can be undertaken by citizens, the public sector, entrepreneurs, and energy entities.
When it comes to energy management and measures that citizens can take, the Guidelines contain recommendations for efficient energy consumption for heating and cooling, then recommendations for proper ventilation of the space, and for efficient energy consumption for lighting and household appliances, as well as in transportation, but also long-term energy efficiency measures.
Among other things, it was stated that if the temperature maintained in the space is reduced by just 1 °C, approximately five percent of heating energy can be saved annually.
As explained, the application of the principles of energy efficiency through the Guidelines is aimed at reducing the bills of all citizens, businesses, public services and services, which makes us more resistant to energy disturbances. Therefore, a recommendation was given to all cantonal governments, as well as to the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of Bosnia and Herzegovina, that everyone, within their jurisdiction, take care of the implementation of energy efficiency recommendations and measures in order to ensure savings in the consumption of energy and energy sources.
